THE ROLE :

An exciting opportunity has opened for an Automation Sales Engineer to contribute to the growth and success of the business across the Waikato and Central North Island region. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for client engagement, solution development, and sales strategy.

Reporting to an experienced and supportive sales leader, you will take ownership of identifying new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with existing customers across a range of industries, including manufacturing, food and beverage, and process automation.

You will work closely with clients to understand their technical requirements and challenges, and collaborate with internal technical teams to design and deliver tailored automation solutions that add real value. This includes promoting products such as pneumatic and electric actuators, sensors, control systems, and related automation technologies.

Success in this role will come from combining your technical knowledge with a consultative sales approach, ensuring customer satisfaction while driving growth and long-term partnerships.

 

YOUR PROFILE:​

You’re a strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and a talent for building strong, value-driven client relationships. Your background in electrical engineering, combined with hands-on experience in automation and drive technologies, enables you to offer practical, forward-thinking solutions that meet complex industrial needs.

- Proven ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities, engaging confidently with stakeholders across various levels - including C-suite decision-makers.

- Strong track record of developing tailored, high-impact solutions through close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

- Skilled in managing and growing existing client relationships to ensure long-term success, profitability, and mutual advocacy.

- Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

- Solid understanding of electrical automation systems, drive technologies, and industrial applications.

- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and refined negotiation skills.

- A collaborative team player who brings energy, creativity, and professionalism to every interaction.
