THE ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to become a key member of our National Service Team, reporting directly to the Service Supervisor. This role plays a vital part in delivering exceptional service and technical support to our customers across a range of industries, including Water, Power, Petrochemical, and other associated sectors.

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for delivering timely and effective on-site support, ensuring that all equipment - particularly actuators and associated components - is operating efficiently and reliably. Your ability to work independently, think critically, and maintain a high standard of professionalism will be essential in meeting our service commitments and upholding the company’s reputation for quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in actuators and control systems in the field, using appropriate diagnostic tools and methods.

  • Conduct hands-on repairs, testing, and modifications to actuators and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with technical specifications.

  • Perform both planned and preventative maintenance activities to minimise downtime and extend the life of installed equipment.

  • Install and commission new actuator systems, including the mechanical and electrical integration of retrofit components such as pedestals, drive shafts, and adapter kits.

  • Ensure all installations and maintenance activities meet applicable safety, quality, and compliance standards.

  • Provide technical support and advice to customers on-site, helping to resolve issues efficiently while maintaining a strong customer service focus.

  • Maintain clear, detailed, and accurate service records by preparing comprehensive technical reports for each site visit, including diagnostics, work performed, parts used, and recommendations for ongoing maintenance or upgrades.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, sales, and customer support to ensure smooth communication and alignment on service outcomes.

This role requires a high level of autonomy, technical proficiency, and a proactive approach to field-based service work. You will often be the face of the company to our clients and must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes in every customer interaction.

YOUR PROFILE:

You are a trade-qualified professional with a valid WA Electrical License, ideally with EEHA endorsement (preferred but not essential). You bring post-apprenticeship experience in a practical engineering environment, preferably in a field-based role, and any offshore experience will be highly regarded. You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, and are prepared to complete necessary training including Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, and First Aid. You are also willing and able to comply with customer-specific requirements such as inductions, medicals, and vaccinations. A full, valid driver’s license and a strong commitment to extensive travel are essential.

Technically, you possess relevant experience or knowledge in valves, actuators, and digital control systems. You have a sound understanding of basic electronics, electrical systems, and fluid power principles, and are confident reading and interpreting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics. You are also skilled in the use of standard test and calibration tools.

Personally, you are results-driven and focused on meeting customer expectations. You establish strong working relationships with both customers and colleagues, and your communication skills are excellent. You are self-motivated, socially confident, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. You take ownership of your responsibilities, pursue your goals with enthusiasm, and are prepared to go the extra mile when needed. You apply your technical knowledge with precision and are committed to ongoing development and the effective use of technology to support your work.
