BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - CENTRAL QUEENSLAND

COMPANY OVERVIEW: Our Client is a global industrial engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture, and service of high-performance gearboxes and motion solutions for heavy industries. With a presence across multiple continents, they support clients in sectors including mining, marine, power, and process industries, providing innovative, reliable, and full-lifecycle solutions that help businesses operate more efficiently and sustainably.

- Driving Industry - with over 150 years in gear‑manufacturing experience, specialising in the design, manufacture and service of high-performance industrial gearboxes.

- Operates globallywith a presence on six continents, dozens of facilities, and a strong service network, enabling close customer support and rapid lifecycle management of gear systems.

- Provides full lifecycle support: not only designing and manufacturing new gear units, but also servicing and repairing legacy and third-party gearbox brands.

 

LOCATION: Mackay, Queensland, Australia.

THE ROLE:

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for managing and nurturing key customer relationships while proactively identifying and driving new business opportunities across services, spares, engineered upgrades, repairs, overhauls, and new equipment sales. You will undertake regular customer visits, follow up on enquiries and quotations, and ensure any customer issues are resolved promptly and effectively. This role requires developing and executing a sales strategy for your territory in line with company objectives, leveraging the full product range and group offerings, and collaborating closely with internal teams to maximise sales opportunities. You will also be responsible for accurately recording customer interactions, sales activities, and order conversions in Salesforce, supporting data-driven decision-making. A strong focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement ensures a productive and secure working environment, while offering the chance to make a tangible impact on the company’s growth and market presence.

YOUR PROFILE:

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused professional with a strong understanding of industrial reducers, power transmission systems, or rotating equipment. Ideally, you will hold a degree or formal qualification in mechanical engineering, though relevant trade experience is highly regarded. You should have experience selling highly engineered solutions and products into service-driven industries, along with awareness of market trends and industry intelligence.

The ideal candidate demonstrates clear leadership skills and the ability to build strong internal relationships to support service centres. Experience with industrial gearboxes, power transmission, SAP, and CRM systems is advantageous. Exceptional communication skills, written, verbal, and presentation are essential, along with a professional, confident, and adaptable approach. You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively, thriving under pressure while supporting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative team environment.

A valid driver’s licence and willingness to undertake occasional overnight or multi-site travel are also required.
